JAMES LILLYWHITE'S CRICKETERS' ANNUAL FOR 1889

Eighteenth year of issue, covering the 1888 season and the 1888 Australian tour of England. Known as the "Red Lilly", this annual was the last of three annuals published by the Lillywhites, the others being the Companion and the Guide. It lasted for 29 editions between 1872 and 1900, with two issues of 1872. From 1885 onwards the Annual incorporated John Lillywhite's Cricketer's Companion.

Small 8vo. [xiv] + 269pp + [1] + 2-19 + [16]. Original orange printed cloth covers. Plate of the Surrey XI of 1888 tipped-in opposite the titlepage. A very good copy.  [Padwick, 1087]
