For eight seasons during the thirties Willie Johnston, editor of the Arsenal programme, kept his own hand-written records on a season-by-season basis. He then published them privately in eight volumes, each limited to 40 copies. They contain the full seasons' results, details of scorers, squads, transfers, records, and a summary of the key events in the season.
