The Golfer's Manual is an early handbook that introduces players to the 'National Game of Scotland' during a burst in popularity at the turn of the century. Contains a history of the game, guide to equipment including a comprehensive history of the evolution of the golf ball, hints to beginners, introduction to champion golfers etc. Forgan went on to found a well known club makers in St. Andrews.
6th edition. Small 8vo. vi, 86pp. including photographs, illustrations and decorative motifs and adverts in-text. Internal leaves fractionally browned but clean. In the original decorative boards, rebacked with new endpapers but original pastedowns retained with booksellers sticker across front pastedown. Minor bumping to corners and foredge else very good. A very nice copy of a scarce title.
