THE GOLF COURSES OF THE BRITISH ISLES

Bernard DARWIN

Darwin's famous flagship book offers a magical evocation of the great courses where the game began, intimately describing the courses of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The book is nicely broken down into areas, eg. "Kent and Sussex", or "East Anglia".

First Edition. Large 8vo. [vi] + 254pp. Colour frontis. (St. Andrews "looking back from the twelfth green) + tissue guard. 62 colour plates, illustrated by Harry Rountree. Original green cloth, very clean and bright, gilt titles to spine and upper board, vignettes. Some very minimal shelfwear to head and tail of the spine. Top edges gilt. A fine copy. NB. Loosely inserted is the rare slip which offers the original drawings by Rountree by inviting the reader to make "enquiries with a view to purchase" at the offices of A.E. Johnson, Artists' Agent.  [D&M, 14410]
