The sixth earliest rugby title, and one of the major 19th century works on the game. Perhaps most notable for its account of the seismic split in 1863, which saw the formation of the Football Association "under a code which Rugbeians could not afford to accept." Also contains a chapter on the effects of professionalism, by Arthur Budd. Later editions published in 1890, 1898 and 1909.
