Wisden Cricketers' Almanack is the longest-running, continuously published sporting handbook in the world. A full set of Wisdens is the Holy Grail for cricket collectors. Early editions of Wisden are scarce and considered rare books, whilst post-war Wisdens are relatively simple to obtain. The most interesting editions of Wisden are the 1916 (with obituaries of WG Grace and Trumper), 1949 (Australian "Invincibles" tour under Don Bradman) and the 1963 Centenary Edition, which tells the story of how John Wisden started his Almanack. |
