He played for Watford, Derby County and Leeds United as well as representing England, including the 1912 Olympic Games (winning the gold medal). In this fascinating book, he recollects his playing days with the likes of Steve Bloomer and William Foulke and goes on to cover the spread of football around the globe.

8vo. 224pp. 9 plates (1 folding). Dust-wrapper, heavily rubbed to edges. Signed with an inscription by the author to front endpaper - "If only I knew as much about fishing! With best wishes, Ivan Sharpe, Sept. 1952".
