Tennis instructional, based on HWW Wilberforce's book published in 1889, and the first major work on lawn tennis written in German.

Small 8vo. vii + 72pp. Photographic frontispiece, 12 plates, diagrams in the text. First endpaper detached. Original illustrated, paper-covered boards, very clean and bright. A fine copy. Signed Presentation copy from the author to HWW Wilberforce. Additionally, loosely inserted is a 4-page letter from the author to Wilberforce wherein he admits basing his own work on that of Wilberforce: "I found yours to be the best and therefore went to work on the lines laid down by you." He also sheds lights on the state of the game in Germany: "Considering the progress the game is making in Germany and the fact that no exhaustive treatise on the same exists here, I determind about 3 months ago of writing a short work on the subject." The letter has the sender's address of "Magdeburg, Germany" and is dated 5th February 1895.
