The earliest biography of the great French tennis star Suzanne Lenglen, her career not yet being over. Claude Anet was a very close friend and a natural choice for this book. Covers her early life and also the heady life that she led on the French Riviera over many years when her regular afternoon matches were watched at Cannes and Nice by huge crowds with vast sums of money being wagered on the result. The matches with Dorothea Lambert Chambers, Molla Mallory and Helen Wills each get their own chapter. This book was only issued in a run of 300 copies. French language.

8vo. 196pp. Rebound in quarter leather with marbled boards and endpapers. Original paper wrappers retained. A very good copy.
