An important and rare early survey of soccer in Scotland by the former Rangers player turned journalist known as "Old International" including accounts of the origins of the leading sides of the day, such as Parkgrove who unusually had a number of non-white stars, among whom was Andrew Watson - the Scottish international and first black player to be capped. Another was Robert Walker who Steel describes as "a curly-haired son of Africa" - a sure sign of the times.
8vo. 176pp. Rebound in cloth-covered boards with the original cover pasted to the front, with some additional details added, such as the dates and inclusion of the word "Scottish". All further pages are present and are in excellent condition.
