Published broadsheet of the verses written and read by the dramatist and I Zingari cricketer Tom Taylor, wearing full cricket gear, on the occasion of the inaugural Canterbury Week, prior to a performance of his play 'The Poor Gentleman'. This was on the same day as Kent played England in 'The Great Match' - 1 August 1842. The exact date that this copy was printed is not clear but it would seem to be soon after the event.

Single folded sheet measuring 20 x 25cm. Very good condition with period inscription to top and again to reverse.
