Ben Taylor, known as The Woolwich Infant of Big Ben, was a heavyweight active from 1900-1914. He fought a number of great heavyweights of the time including Joe Jennette, Sam McVea (twice) and, most famously, Jack Johnson. He fought Johnson in Plymouth in 1908 and was knocked down 11 times before the fight was ended. This is an original photograph of Taylor in fighting pose - it originally belonged to J.T. Hulls who was the referee for the Johnson fight.

19 x 14cm. Laid down to larger mount which has suffered loss to 3 corners and is lightly foxed. The actual photograph is still in very good condition. From the collection of the well-known boxing journalist Sydney Hulls (grandson of J.T. Hulls).
