A complete record of scores with bowling analyses of all cricket matches, and full particulars of all football matches and rifle contests between Charterhouse and other public schools over forty years.

8vo. 103pp. Cloth-covered boards. Covers lightly rubbed. Fly-leaf and title-page detached and binding is becoming loose. Bookplate of cricket-collector J.W. Goldman to fly-leaf and ownership signature of an earlier cricket collector and historian, Robert Stratten Holmes, to top of title-page. A good copy. Laid down to the front pastedown is a handwritten and nicely signed letter from C.W. Alcock to Holmes, offering the book as a gift for his collection. Alcock is one of the most important figures in the history of sport. After a playing career that included captaining England at football and Middlesex at cricket he became a leading instigator in the development of international football and cricket matches and was largely responsible for the creation of the FA Cup.
