Cricket autobiography of Eddie Paynter (1901-79), of Lancashire and England. His most famous Test appearances were against Australia on the Bodyline tour of 1932/33. At Brisbane Paynter was taken to hospital for tonsillitis, yet with England struggling at 216-6 in reply to Australia's 340, he came out to bat after a night in hospital, to make 83 and help his team to an unlikely first-innings lead. In five innings on tour Paynter averaged 61.33.
Paperback. 8vo. 115pp. 12 pages of photographs. Pictorial card covers, rubbed to edges. Good condition. Signed nicely by Paynter on the half-title page (not dedicated).
