Fingleton's seminal book on the Bodyline crisis of 1932-33 when the English and Australian cricket teams clashed over the fairness of the English fast bowling attack which was, they claimed, aimed at hitting the batsman rather than attempting to capture his wicket. Fingleton opened the batting for Australia in the series and went on to become a highly respected journalist.

Second, reprinted, edition. 8vo. 295pp. Frontispiece, 36 pages of photographs. Dustwrapper, rubbed with a number of large chips. Bookplate and magazine image of Fingleton laid down to front endpapers. Gift inscription, dated 1948, to fly-leaf. A fair/good copy. With a signed dedication from Jack Fingleton to the Financial Times critic and cricket enthusiast Kevin Henriques on the title-page.
