CRICKET IN BARBADOS

Bruce Hamilton (1900-1974) was the brother of the dramatist Partrick Hamilton, author of such classic as Hangover Square and Gaslight. Also a writer, Bruce's literary career took in both cricket and the history of British colonies in the Caribbean, especially during the 35 years he lived in Barbados. He wrote this history of cricket on his adopted island "as a means of escape from the worries and miseries of the early years of the war" and dedicated it to the memory of HBG Austin and George Challenor, two "greats" of West Indies and Barbados cricket. 

First Edition. Paperback. 8vo. 168pp. + viii. Original card wrappers, lightly rubbed. Bookplate of Tony Woodhouse to front free endpaper, which also has the name and address of a subsequent owner in ink. Good condition.
