Second American Edition. 8vo. 48pp. Engraved frontis. ("The Croquet Queen"), 2 plans. Original olive green sand-grained cloth, title and vignette of a croquet set in gilt to front. Front inner hinge cracked and beginning to become exposed. Threaded into the block opp the frontis is a 16mo, 11pp pamphlet, dated 1882, entitled "Croquet - The Rules Governing The Game". Signed presentation copy from the author to a Mrs WJL Davies, dated July 1869.
