ENGLAND FOOTBALL TEAM 1946 AUTOGRAPH SHEET

Official autograph card, published by the Football Association, for a match between England and Norway in May 1946. The full England team and trainer have signed very nicely in ink (16 in total) - Ditchburn, Hardwick, Soo, Freddie Hall, Burgess, Matthews, Bert Brown, Rooke, Mortensen, Franklin, Bill Layton, Eddie Burbanks, Micky Fenton, Dick Goffin (trainer) and two others. There is no record of a match against Norway in May 1946 (that we can find) so either the title is wrong or it was cancelled. The odd combination of England "greats" and lesser lights from the north-east suggest that it may have been played at Roker Park.

20 x 13cm. Glue residue to reverse. Good condition.
