Cricket autograph. Handwritten letter to Archie MacLaren, mainly reminiscing about old friends. "Funny to think back, I remember travelling up in your carriage from Brisbane to Toowoomba, and you were ragging with Tom Haywood and some of the others - so young - that is nearly 50 years ago". Metcalfe is undoubtedly referring to Stoddart's tour to Australia in 1897-98. Metcalfe played 2 games for Queensland 1894-99, as well as representing the MCC, Hertfordshire, Incogniti and I Zingari. Handwritten envelope also included. Very nicely signed "EJ Metcalfe".

18 x 11cm. Written on 4 sides. Very good.
