SIGNED

 Handwritten letter in ink on 2 sheets to seemingly close acquaintance 'Gerry', dated 11th of September 1946. Gimblett is replying to a letter and covers various subjects including his not quite reaching 2000 runs for Somerset in that season and his appendectomy, which he expreses hopes will help him "feel a little more lively than I have done in recent months". Gimblett had a storming start in his first match for Somerset reaching his century in 63 minutes and went on to become a county stalwart in the post war years.

18 x 13cm. 2 horizontal folds per page and diagonal creases. Some spotting and very light staining but all text legible.
