First edition. 8vo. vi + [2] + 9-159pp. Dust-wrapper, rubbed and chipped to edges. Good. This copy was presented to Peter Brooke as a history prize at Ashfold School when he was aged 13. The inscription is written to the flyleaf by Ashfold's first headmaster James Harrison. Peter Brooke, later Baron Brooke of Sutton Mandeville, was a long serving Conservative MP and cabinet minister under Margaret Thatcher.
