Official souvenir programme for Shute Banerjee's Benefit Match, played at Eden Gardens , Calcutta, on January 6-8, 1974. The two teams were made up of the Indian team to tour Sri Lanka and a Rest of India XI, captained by Bishen Bedi. Banerjee only played one official Test match but was a very well-respected cricketer in India and is perhaps most famous for adding 249 for the last wicket with C.T. Sarwate against Surrey at the Oval in 1946. Contains a full account of that innings and a number of biographical studies of Banerjee.

Paperback. Small 4to. Covers lightly rubbed with one small ink mark. A very good copy. Rare.
