JAMES LILLYWHITE'S CRICKETERS' ANNUAL FOR 1896

Twenty-fifth  year of issue, covering the 1895 season and England's 1894-95 tour of Australia under AE Stoddart, with an account and scorecards for all matches plus tour statistics. Known as the "Red Lilly", this annual was the last of three annuals published by the Lillywhites, the others being the Companion and the Guide. It lasted for 29 editions between 1872 and 1900, with two issues of 1872. From 1885 onwards the Annual incorporated John Lillywhite's Cricketer's Companion.

Small 8vo. [xii] + 315pp + xxx + [3]. Original orange printed cloth covers, darkened to edges and spine. Plate of the Lancashire XI 1895 tipped-in. Good condition.
