A humorous novel, including the long-awaited cricket match between Great Takenham and the local Sunday School and choir. A local boy, going by the name of W.G. Grace, was drafted as "his name, it was thought, might possibly create a panic when it came to the Sunday school's tail".

First edition. 8vo. 280pp. Contained within the rare original dust-wrapper with a lovely image of a cricket match. The wrapper is a little rubbed to the edges with a small piece missing from the top of the spine. A very good copy.
