An award-winning Victorian essay on the value of P.E. at school with thoughts on best practice. The essay won the First Prize of the National Olympian Association, which was founded by John Hulley and the author in 1865 and is regarded as the forerunner of the British Olympic Association.

18 x 13cms. 20pp. Paperback. Cover rubbed and partially split at spine. Original owner's name and stamp to front - Adolf Stempel, who ran Stempel's Physical Training Institute and Gymnasium in London. Good condition. A rare item.
