ORIEL COLLEGE BARGE SUMMER EIGHTS 1890 PHOTOGRAPH

Original photograph of the Oriel College barge at the 1890 Oxford University Summer Eights. The team is named in pencil underneath, including Surtees, King, Pepys, Ratcliffe, Dickens, Galbraith, Pedder, Briggs and Scanlan. J.H. Brain, who played first-class cricket for Gloucestershire from 1883-89 and Kingsmill Key, who captained Surrey CCC are both pictured in a small group on the barge (with names again listed below).

26 x 36cm. Laid down to slightly larger mount. The image lacks some clarity around the edges, but otherwise in very good condition. (The photograph is larger than our scanner and so the edges may seem trimmed).
