The original England batting list that was sent to the player's dressing room by the England captain, Wally Hammond, for the Oval Test match of 1938 against Australia. This was the match that England won famously by 579 runs, with Hutton scoring a record 364. The list is handwritten by Hammond with three pinholes where it was pinned to the notice board.
20 x 12.5cm. Written on Surrey CCC official headed notepaper. A few smudges to the ink, especially to the name of Farnes. Accompanied by a handwritten note, written at a later date, confirming the provenance of the item. Comes from a well-known private cricket collection. An historic piece of cricket memorabilia.
