Bruce Hamilton (1900-1974) was the brother of the dramatist Patrick Hamilton, author of such classics as Hangover Square and Gaslight. Bruce's literary career took in both cricket and the history of British colonies in the Caribbean, especially during the 35 years he lived in Barbados, during which time he compiled a history of cricket on the island. This short novel tells the story of Edwin Lamb, a former Test legend, who could never come to terms with life after cricket.
