Menu card for a dinner held in honour of the South Africans at the Grand Hotel, Birmingham on 21 October 1931, after a match against the Midland Counties. Embossed decoration and original ribbon still in tact. Signed on the back cover in pencil and ink by 14 players from both teams, including P de Villiers, SR de Toit, J White, JC Tindall, JH van der Westhuizen (ink) and SC Louw (ink) of South Africa. The other signatures include T Coulson, the captain of the Midland Counties team. From the collection of the Cambridge blue G.H. Bailey, with his pencil signature to front.

20 x 13cm. 4pp. Embossed design to front. Very light stains on both covers. Internally very clean. Slight rubbing to signatures but generally clear and bright. A lovely item.
