Official programme for a cycling gymkhana held at the U.S. Recreation Ground, Portsmouth, on September 25th, 1900. Most events (but not all) involved bicycles, including Cigar and Fusee race, Tortoise Race and Needle and Thread race. The Cigar race involves a lady lighting a fusee (while mounted on a bicycle), and then passing it to her partner who lights a cigar. They then race to the end hand in hand, ensuring that the cigar is properly lighted. This has not yet been adopted as an Olympic sport - a shame as Jason and Laura Kenny would make a formidable pairing.

One staple removed. 4pp. Some minor surface loss along spine. Generally good condition and a fascinating insight into what constituted a good time in the late Victorian period.
