This handsome and wonderfully detailed volume is described on its title page as 'an historical and contemporary work on racing in the British Isles from its earliest inception to the present day'. An account of the development of racing is followed by a study of the horses, owners, trainers and jockeys of the present (1906). An international section is also included. Compiled by The Sporting Life.

First Edition. Folio (38 x 28cms). xii + 501pp. Frontis + 112 photogravures + b/w illustrations in text, marbled endpapers, bound in contemporary black morocco, sl. rubbed. Neat owner's inscription, minor marking on title page. A few small marks inside, otherwise a clean copy.
