With 26 beautiful, coloured chromolithographic plates of various aspects of croquet, each accompanied by a suitable ditty, "M", for example, comes with: " ... for the mallet of Lord Tollemache wielded; There's a rumour that it a quintuple peel did". Lord Tollemache was the author of Croquet, the major work on the game.

Small 4to. [58]pp including 26 coloured plates. Original grey board, stylised lettering in red. Spine largely chipped away and guttering partially exposed. End-paper browned, a few spots of foxing. Plates are bright and clean with some light marks to six of the plates - none at all serious. A lovely book.
