Original black and photograph, taken on the first day of the 1924 Edgbaston Test match between England and South Africa. It is a classic image of Frank Woolley pulling the ball to leg, with Patsy Hendren, the non-striking batsman, looking on. Both players made half-centuries as England went on to win the match by an innings and 18 runs. South Africa were bowled out for 30 in their first innings.

28 x 36cm. Laid down to card. Some small areas of surface loss, particularly to the top right corner and along the edges. The odd scuff and other marks, which could easily be professionally touched up. A fantastically sharp and evocative photograph. It is extremely rare to find a cricketing image from this period of such quality.
