Helen Newington Wills Roark (1905-98) won 31 Grand Slam titles including seven US Open singles titles and eight Wimbledon singles titles during the 1920s and 30s. She typically wore a white sailor suit with a pleated knee-length skirt, white shoes, and a white visor.

1st edition. 8vo. [v] + 311pp. Portrait frontis., 13 further plates. Blue cloth. A very good copy. In its scarce original dust wrapper, edgeworn and lightly creased with small pieces missing to head and foot of spine.
