A famous account of the Gentlemen of MCC's cricket tour of North America in 1872. The team included W.G. Grace and played a series of matches in the USA and Canada where cricket was a popular sport at the time. The Author was a member of the team and later Secretary of the MCC and his account covers the social life of the team as well as the cricket matches.
1st edition. 8vo. ix + 335pp. Frontis of the author and further plate of The Twelve in Montreal. Nicely rebound in quarter leather, mottled boards, raised bands with gilt titles and tooling to spine. Sl. foxing to prelims, nothing serious. A handsome copy of a classic early tour book.
